Mark Swenarton is an architectural historian and critic. In 1981 with Adrian Forty he set up the masters in architectural history at the Bartlett and in 1989 with Ian Latham he founded the monthly review Architecture Today, of which he was publishing editor until 2005. His books include Homes fit for Heroes (1981), Artisans and Architects (1989), Dixon Jones (2003), Feilden Clegg Bradley (2007), Building the New Jerusalem (2008) and Architecture and the Welfare State (2015). From 2005 to 2010 he was head of the architecture school at Oxford Brookes and from 2011 to 2015 James Stirling professor of architecture at Liverpool, where he is now emeritus professor. Following almost ten year’s work his book Cook’s Camden is due to be published next year.
