Na ‘Zomerdromen’ vervolgt de reeks ‘Verrassende Vondsten uit de Collectie’ met een duik in het uitgaansleven. De wereld van bohémiens en nachtbrakers. Hoe wisten architecten gedurende de afgelopen honderd jaar het geroezemoes van een langzaam vollopende theaterzaal in hun tekeningen te vangen? Welke sfeer roepen zij op met hun schetsen van een café of een club? En is misschien ook de eenzaamheid van de stad – de leegte na het feest – op een enkele tekening terug te vinden? Deze ‘verrassende vondsten uit de collectie’ worden maandelijks aangevuld door gastinterventies van hedendaagse kunstenaars en ontwerpers.

Onder de titel Structuralisme opent op 20 september in de grote zaal van Het Nieuwe Instituut een tentoonstelling over het Nederlandse Structuralisme, een stroming in de architectuur die eind jaren 50, begin jaren 60 afstand nam van de technocratische planning waarmee de naoorlogse wederopbouw van het land ter hand werd genomen. In plaats daarvan vroeg het ruimte voor de poëtische en emotionele kanten van de architectuur om zo tot een volwaardig menswaardige leefomgeving te komen….

Scale and Refuge: Twilight of the Anthropocene
The concept of twilight is already at work in the anthropocene, where a certain capacity for the species to view its own end is enabled by destroying the notion that humans are the transcendental condition for all thinking life: thinking the human species within time requires a turn away from the notion of humans as the sole condition of experience. But the concept of twilight has another sense, where a certain dimming of light – far from obscuring vision – enables the emergence of forms and figures. As the species begins to assimilate that it is in a stage of twilight, of thinking its own end within time, we might begin to ask what forms of viewing, visibility and illumination have enabled species-reflection…

« Parlons d’architecture et de paysage » est une invitation faite à un architecte, un paysagiste, un urbaniste d’entrer en conversation avec un enseignant de l’ENS{AP} Lille afin de partager avec un large public l’actualité d’un projet.
Pour l’année 2014-2015, cette série de conférences portera sur le thème « Formes & Formats ». Le projet d’architecture ou de paysage s’exprime dans un terreau culturel et contextuel sans cesse en mouvement. Son mode de penser n’est pas linéaire entre question et réponse, problème identifié et proposition d’amélioration, mais peut être une trajectoire où se croisent des basculements, des découvertes, des stagnations et de nouvelles données. Étudiants aux Beaux-Arts, en école d’architecture, de design ou de graphisme, vous pouvez désormais vous inscrire en ligne pour concourir et tenter de remporter 5000 € !
Ce concours, qui a vocation à jeter des ponts entre le monde étudiant et l’industrie du matériau, est reconduit depuis plusieurs années par l’Association Française de l’Aluminium. Il incite les étudiants à analyser le cycle de vie de leur production, accordant un coefficient déterminant à cet exercice. Par ailleurs, grâce à son partenariat avec Solid Works, il propose un accès gratuit à un module d’éco-conception.
Il offre de nombreuses opportunités de rencontre avec le monde professionnel : visite de la fonderie Montupet de Laigneville, rencontre des membres du jury et des partenaires lors de la remise des prix, participation possible à des événements professionnels pour les lauréats (jury du Janus du Design, salon Architect at Work,…).
